LOCATION: Perched at the top of the village of Saint-Andelain, with slopes descending towards the Loire River, and sweeping views over the entire vineyard.
ASPECT: South- and west-facing slopes – altitude 265 metres
GEOLOGY: Kimmeridgian marl – Cretaceous.
TERROIR: Flint-rich clay soils yielding wines with greater structure and ageing potential than other terroirs.
Long renowned, this area is home to parcels owned by some of the most prestigious estates and leading names of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation.
CLIMATE: Temperate, with a strong oceanic influence. The Loire River brings mild conditions and light morning mists.
GRAPE VARIETIES: Blanc Fumé (Sauvignon), as well as 0.35 hectares of old Chasselas Doré used for the production of Pouilly-sur-Loire AOC.
Alongside a selection of low-yielding, high-quality clones, the estate’s own massal selection has been propagated and used with success since 1930.
VINEYARD MANAGEMENT: Traditional cultivation methods, including ploughing and grass cover on the hillsides.
PRUNING: The vines are pruned using Single Guyot and Cordon de Royat.
AGE: The oldest vines are 65 years old.
SIZE of the family estate: 22 hectares.
FEATURES on the estate: Two carved stone crosses (Riaux and Les Satins).
HUNTING: Game hunting is not practised on the estate.
